But even as EPA and DOT was starting to put pressure on the automakers to reduce horsepower Ford reached in and pulled out the <b>Boss 302 Mustang</b>. They were feeling so much pressure at the time that it is widely believed that they underestimated the horsepower on the 69 Boss just to make it more accepted. The Mustang Boss 302 was a performance package only available in the sportsroof model. The Boss package came with a 290hp 302, 4 speed transmission and a ground pounding 3.50:1 rear axle. The steering was a quick ration 16 to 1, there was no automatic transmission offered or air conditioning. From the factory the engine was set up with a rev limiter to keep the car from going over 6150 rpm. Needless to say very few of the rev limiters stayed on the cars.It was well known at the time that the engines would take much more than that. In fact it was almost unheard of at the time to have an engine that would turn that many RPM's. In addition the Mustang Boss 302 had heavy duty springs, shocks a staggered rear end, a larger front stabilizer bar and Power front disc brakes.</div> <br /> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; It's a very powerful and very fast car, which is not a surprise, since Mustangs have always been that way. This one is even more powerful and faster than every other Mustang built so far, though.That's why we should start breaking down the numbers right away. The 2013 Shelby comes with a ferocious supercharged 5.8-liter V8 engine, generating 650 horsepowers and 600 lb-ft of torque. It's a rear-wheel drive car, with a 6-speed manual transmission, which provides for a smooth gear change. These attributes help it get from 0 to 60 in just 3.5 seconds, and develop maximum speeds of 200 mph.You might think that it would be difficult to control this beast at these incredible speeds, but you shouldn't be worried about that. There is an excellent Electronic Stability Control, as well as Brembo front brakes and standard hydraulic gas-pressurized shock absorbers.Although the Shelby in my humble opinion can't compare to the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini or Porsche in terms of exterior design, it's still a pretty good looking car. There are a couple of changes made regarding previous models. The HID headlamps are now standard for the Shelby, as are for all the other Mustang models. There are two sets of triple LED taillights, which along with the headlights give it a sporty and edgy look. Also, two intakes replace the old grille, which is a huge change.
